Utopia Haus was created during the COVID-19 Pandemic with the dream of a safe and magical option for celebrations when the world was feeling very scary and dark. Celebrations consisted of drive-by birthdays and baby showers with a "trusted" circle of family and friends and I found myself dreaming of what a new "normal" would look like one day and how excited I was to see the people we love. After all, celebrating any little thing felt necessary after such trying and unpredictable times.
We are a Disney family at heart and it was a no-brainer that our very first styled shoot would be inspired by the magic of Disney. It's A Small World felt very fitting for my vision of bringing family and friends back together in a safe and meaningful way. Our circle of family and friends truly reflects the colors and beauty of the world and "a smile means friendship to everyone" is one of my favorite verses from the Disney classic "It's a Small World".
Entertainment: Utopia, our white bounce and slide combo castle was the perfect blank canvas for this aesthetic and brought out all the smiles and laughter in these little buddies. In between bouncing, a picnic table hosted giggles, coloring pages and delicious desserts. It was precious to see this group of friends who hadn't seen each other in over a year enjoy each activity together.
Goodies: Brianna, owner of La Dulce Vida Baked Goods provided a minimalist "It's a Small World" cake for the picnic centerpiece and themed cookies. I'm a big fan of the details coming through in the dessert and Brianna delivered exactly that in a tasty way.
Honey Dipped based out of Elk Grove, Ca provided chocolate dipped strawberries and pretzel sticks for the perfect snack and added detail. These were so good, there weren't any left by the end of the day!
Details: To keep focus on the deeper meaning behind our concept, I kept the styling very minimal. One of the styled elements was the party favor wall. I'm known for putting a lot of detail into party favors and our Arched Shelf Backdrop is perfect for displaying what your guests get to take home.
I selected soft brown, blue and peach for the color palette, which I incorporated through the balloons on Utopia and the picnic details. The setting was very lush with greenery and trees and we accented the setup with plants and florals to pull such a large open space into our intimate design.
The end result of this beautiful afternoon consisted of happy friends and this magical video by Peter Syravong
